Episode 8 Status (2018-07-08)

Any updates on the status of Episode 8?

I expect Wolfschadowe will do another update sometime soon. That said, I'm afraid we will be slipping the release a little. We are almost certainly not going to make it by the end of February as hoped. Stuff happens.

To try to soften the blow a bit, I'll start dropping a few teasers now and during February. Check that thread. I don't have very many so will have to spread them out.

The main reason for the delay is that I've had a case of "I don't wanna work on it" for the last couple weeks.

I've still done some work and planning here and there, but seems I need a bit of a break to come back fresh in a week or so. This happens to me from time to time and it's nothing to worry about. Usually I come back with some of my best stuff after these bouts.

Here is the latest status, and you can see there still has been significant progress, even with my break.

You can see that I pushed the date back by a month. It's technically possible that I'll get a fire under me and could actually get it out on the original target, but you all know me by now, right? That probably won't happen. Anyway, the standard is 3-6 months per release and we will easily make that window even with my current laziness.

Highly unlikely. I'll wait for Wolf to post a definite projection but I am 99% sure it will slip to sometime in April.

We won't make an end of March release. This is 100% my fault because I haven't worked much on BEW since the last update. I've had a lot of stress for the last month or so and just haven't gotten into the BEW mood. Nothing groundbreaking or earthshaking or even excuse worthy in it Heh. If you really feel the need to blame someone though, blame Bethesda for making Skyrim and luring me into yet another modded romp across the countryside.

No worries though, it WILL clear up and I'll be back to BEW soonish.

I am not trying to sound snarky here but the priorities have always been family, career, life, health and so on. The game has always been a hobby. Sometimes hobbies run smoothly and with much attention and energy. Other times life and the other things interfere with hobbies.

Work is well under way on the next episode. The last projection was for early April release but that will not happen. Other things have taken up time and attention. Episode 8 will be released sometime this spring or early summer. I just don't know exactly when. I don't think Wolfschadowe knows either. It will be released when it is done.

I agree and I gave the boss a poke after our last PM exchange. We should see something before too long.

In all fairness to Wolf, the team, and the members of this forum, JFR and I did trade some messages after my previous post. And, pre-echoing (that a word?) Jake's sentiment, the occasional update is what I was after....

Despite my on-forum less-than-rainbows-and-kittens comments, I still believe in this game. Three years in it is still the best Adult VN story I have seen in those three years (well, maybe outside of Tlaero, but she's a goddess).

Wolf, I believe in you, your direction, your team and your desire to finish this. Heck, I had an 0730 meeting this morning and I didn't want to go; it happens to us all. Plus one each of the NEXT 4 days of this week. (Yuck). And that's what I'm paid to do... [Stock tip - buy Monster; I'll have to stay awake! ]

But please, drop by and give us a word. Just a kind word if not a definitive word. Work is hard, hobbies are harder, and I get that. But this forum is our one great information highway into this game and the mind of the Wolf.
