DAZ Artists (Closed)

Post by Wolfschadowe » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:02 pm

DAZ3D Artist

Number of openings: 3

Description:
Working from a storyboard in MS Visio (using free Visio reader) and provided assets, pose and render images in the style and quality of the BEW game. This includes maintaining characterization in the images as well as telling story’s with pictures alone, both in the foreground and the background. Expect to spend approximately 1 hour total on each image once “in the groove.” This includes the time to pose and tweak the figures, as well as render the image. Images will then be submitted to Wolfschadowe for approval and inclusion in the game. Expect significant rework in the beginning until the styles mesh.
Expectation is to render a block of images (as defined in the storyboard) within 2-3 days of claiming the block. Each block is anywhere from 1-10 images. There is no minimum expectation to the number of blocks per week/month to render. It’s a volunteer project. Just finish the blocks you claim in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • DAZ3D Software (free)
  • Enough experience with DAZ to be able to pose and render images to the quality needed in BEW.
  • Plenty of spare time.
  • Flexibility to match or exceed Wolfschadowe’s expectations for the final result.
  • (Optional) Ability to create animations.
How to Apply:
Step one:
  • Create an interior scene in DAZ of your choice. Must contain a bench/couch and two figures.
  • Scene must be decorated in a way that gives an impression of the figures.
  • Generate four images that tell a story of pictures. No text, just images. Basic requirements follow, embellish as you see fit.
    • Image 1: Both Standing near the seat.
    • Image 2: One sits.
    • Image 3: The second sits.
    • Image 4: Both are sitting and cuddling together.
  • Once completed, send the four images to Wolfschadowe via PM. Wolfschadowe will then assess and critique the images, possibly making suggestions or pointing out flaws (if any).
  • If necessary, recreate any images based on Wolfschadowe feedback. Repeat as necessary until all four images are accepted.
Step Two:
  • Wolfschadowe will provide scene assets for an actual BEW Game scene as well as a sample storyboard.
  • Render 10 frames of the sample storyboard based on information in the storyboard, and submit to Wolfschadowe for approval.
  • Wolfschadowe will compare your images to reference images. They aren’t expected to match exactly, but should tell the same story.
  • If necessary, re-render images until they match the style and substance of BEW. (Bonus points if Wolfschadowe likes your images better than the reference images. That means your images from this step may be included in a future episode.)
  • (Optional) Provide 2 15-frame animations based on storyboard info.
Completion of Steps One and Two will make you an official BEW Artist. There is no failure. Feel free to keep trying until you are able to match the BEW Quality/style, or you decide not.
Why this position is open:
Rendering images is the primary bottleneck in the size of episodes. More artist’s means more content can be released per episode, meaning the game will be finished faster. Roughly 8000 images remain to be rendered for the full game. This opens Wolfschadowe up to spend more time building and verifying storyboards, continuity, and content.
Compensation?
Due to the time involved and necessary hardware and software for this position, there is a token payment available in the form of donation sharing. $1 for every approved image after the 49th image per episode timebox, pulled from Patreon donations. For example, Render 20 images. $0. Render 49 images. $0. Render 50 images, $50. Render 200 images: $200. Render 1000 images. $1000. Up to a maximum of whatever is left in the donation account once server maintenance and other expenses are paid.

*Note: BEW is a non-profit hobby project. All positions are voluntary and unpaid, including Wolfschadowe’s. All received donations are used to fund the game (i.e. Web hosting, Art assets, etc..) Full disclosure: Occasionally, Wolf will use the money to buy himself a beer. :D
