Technically png is a compressed image format, but while jpg compression tends to destroy information in the images, png does not. Does iOS actually even allow you to extract files somewhere?
Haven't used it much either lately, but from what i remember you were totally locked out from the file system.
But i suppose you can extract files somewhere even if you can't browse them....
