I absolutely don't want to fall into this category. At the same time, I don't want to fall into the category of those who start off something huge and ambitious with great promise and never complete it. I'm still planning a bigger update post to let you all know more about what's going on. I just haven't figured out how to say what I want to say yet. Don't worry, that's not doom foreshadowing. Work WILL continue on BEW. Soonish.
I've never questioned whether or not you will complete the game, only if you will be motivated to begin a new one now knowing the amount of work involved. I would like to unwrap Faith by Christmas but that's just me being selfish.

Are we there yet? ;) Not at all what I meant. When I asked "How's it going Wolfshadowe?" I meant How are you doing Wolfshadowe? Not so much How was the game going. Anyway, It was great to hear from you and I hope you and your family are well. Thanks for the update and as always I'll be looking forward to any game development you come up with whenever you come up with it. Take care :D

Yep. It was an intrusion through the hosting service's firewall, not anything in the forum, but it required a complete shut-down while they purged the system and rebuilt the protection. I was concerned something might have gotten in through the forum itself but Wolf assured me it wasn't us.

Nothing related to BEW was affected. All the game files, bugtracker, forum, forum attachments and downloads remained safe. An unused application (Wordpress) on one of my parked domains was affected and they suspended all external access to my account while we removed the trojan from the other domain and checked/double checked/and triple checked that the BEW related sites were safe. Wordpress was installed by default on the parked, unused domain and never updated which gave the attack vector. After a strong word with the web host, Wordpress has been removed from all my parked domains. :)

Me too. I would have taken it as a personal failure if any nasty stuff made it's way onto any of your systems from the BEW sites.

I have wordpress on one of my lesser-used domains, but i have it on autoupdates. Occasionally, i have to do a manual update.

Glad you found the attack vector and sorted it.

I guess I am old. Back in my day removing the Trojan made things less safe.

At this point, the game looks very dated and while some devs stick to the old web browser format, most successful indie porn/erotic game devs either work in Ren'py or Unity. And I don't mean successful in a strictly financial way, I mean successful as in actually providing regular updates and finishing a game.
I for one hope that this is what Wolfschadowe is talking about in regards to a remake. Getting rid of the dated look of the renders and a better engine.

That's an interesting take. I agree that there are many SLICK games out there, ones that have a professional look and polish to them. At the same time, I think the content of many/most that I've seen is meh, at best.

We have to remember that BEW is a labor of love, not a money making scheme.

Personally, I prefer the emphasis on story and flow, and, well, the humanity of the characters. It's not that BEW is precisely believable, but the player can easily see the characters are realistic, which is one big draw for me.

I don't know what Ren'PY or Unity bring to the table in terms of simplifying development - maybe it does? but my guess is that the technology isn't what's slowing things down. I'd hate to see Wolf spend (waste) many cycles converting to a new tool set just for the sake of it.

Personally I don't care about what some call a dated look. One of my all time favorite games is Getting to Know Christine, and how old is that?

Slick is nice but story is king, IMHO.

You make many good points, I too am interested in the story. But if you look at the conversations we are in the minority. Everyone gets excited about a new sketch that comes out. No one asks about advancing the story line. I mean the ground work for the next section could be advanced in a Newspaper page with stories that drop clues and some that don't so as to obscure the paths a bit. But I'm just offering a humble opinion.

All we can do is wait for Wolf and wish well to all efforts that are made to get going again. I agree cutting edge tech might make it easier to produce, but by the time you revamp what you have and get going again your new tech will be outdated yet again.

Oh well, we'll be patient, it's all we can do.

The game is what it is. There are loads of devs who have learned the bare minimum of Unity/Ren'Py to knock out a basic game, but the gameplay is often bug-ridden and the story is crap.

To re-craft BEW in a new engine at it's current stage of development would be tricky, and although it might encourage other people to play the game, it would not add that much value for those of us who are ready for the next slice of cake.

As long as the images load and clicking on the links takes you to the right place, the look and feel of the gameplay does not matter overmuch.

Yes, I'd rather not have to wait longer for Wolf to start over again, just for an engine change. I am very interested in the story, and can't wait to see what happens next!
